Howdy Bailey! I am loving summer also and not ready for an end! Like you I have read A LOT of little kid books (to my granddaughter), but I have read a couple of other "big people" books. Have you read "Lucky" or "Tale of Desperaux"? Those would both be good summer books. I know that reading is not always your favorite thing to do! What else are you doing? Swimming, running, long walks? I am spending a lot of time with my family and friends-that's the best! Take care, Ms. S

Good morning to both of you! I have had a wonderful summer and I am getting ready to go camping for a "last hurrah!" I am working at school today to get some things ready. Thank you for coming! Wow, thereAnybody that reads this fromreading group3 or is a very definite change in the story apart ofany reading group from chapter 7 to chapter 8! For the first time, you can really see Miss schilling's, please tell me how the author put together several short stories to make this book. I had some trouble transitioning from chapter 7, concerning Ratty and Mole's adventure to save Baby Portly, and then chapter 8 yoursummer is going and Toad's misfortunes. What about you? Tell me your thoughts, please! maybe we can chat some time you know we can still use this!(LOL)

What I Think
wild adventures!! adventures!Toad got put in jail because he stoll a Motor car. Toad meets the jailers daugther and she makes him food and gives him a drink.Toad uses the girl.She said my aunt is a washer woman and is very poor, if you give her a few pounds of money I can get you out of jail.So he did and the plan began to into action!Toad wore some of the washer womans clothes and walked right out,soon he was out and was free!!Then Toads jouney began.

Ratty and Mole set off to the riverbank to get their toes warm. Rat was far ahead of Mole, Mole said wait up I think I smell my house but Rat did not hear him. Then Ratty said we can't stop now we're half way there, then Rat said there is a tree stump that you can rest on. Mole was out of breath and hungry and tired, next Mole said I smelled my house back there but you did not hear me! Rat said I'm sorry we should go back to your house to warm up. But we passed the house a long time a go cried Mole. I don't care if I get hurt I'm going to find your house no matter what and I'll need to use your nose to smell down that house! Then they end up finding Mole's house and Mole is complaining about his house because it is so small and Rat's house and Toad's house is much bigger. But Rat made Mole feel like it's just important.

Rat and Mole come out of the underground tunnel that came from Badgers house. on the way there Mole smells a familar smell but he can't quite figure out what it is but then he catches a wiff of it again and he figures out it is his old house that he had abandoned on that beautiful spring day.he tells Rat to slow down but Rat doesn't hear him so he runs up to Rat and starts crying. Rat asks whats wrong and Mole says he's just sad because he couldn't go to his old house and Rat says theyd search for it even if it took them all night .After a while they found it. As soon as their inside they relise their hunger and Rat asks Mole where he kept his food while they are looking around Rat finds a sardine can opener, that leads Rat to finding a couple of cans with sardines in them.A little whle after they are done eating two young field miceknock on his door so that they could sing carols to them, Rat as a gift gave them them some(ALE?).After they left Rat and Mole went to bed.
